Dr. Cohen has received every possible award given by his peers at the South Carolina Chiropractic Association (SCCA) and most of these awards multiple times. In order to further recognize his many years of service, the SCCA created a new award in his name. The Dr. Evan M. Cohen lifetime achievement award of which Dr. Cohen was the first recipient. This award was presented at the 2022 SCCA annual convention to a standing ovation of his peers. This award is only to be given to those individuals who have served the chiropractic association and the profession for an entire career.
Dr. Cohen created and has been the chairman of the SCCA “Tee It Up For Chiropractic” charity golf tournament. This tournament has raised about $2,000,000 for the advancement of the chiropractic profession in South Carolina. In 2023 the SCCA will hold it’s 25th annual tournament.
Dr. Cohen has been on staff at the University of South Carolina athletic department as a part of the medical staff since 2005. Since that time Dr. Cohen has been directly responsible for no less that 16 athletes, cheerleaders and general students to enter chiropractic school to go on to become Doctors of Chiropractic. This is an accomplishment of which Dr. Cohen is most proud.
Due to Dr. Cohen’s devotion to the profession and his commitment to referring young, talented students to the profession, Sherman College of Chiropractic awarded Dr. Cohen with the 2022 ROAR (Reach Out And Recruit) award. This award is given to the individual who has most supported the college with referrals.
